Variety

If you’ve been training for a while now, you may be finding yourself in an ’exercise comfort zone’.  You cruise through the same old workout, possibly several days per week. You’re keeping fit but are you really getting the best out of your regular ritual?  New motivation and interest come from added challenge and a fresh approach to old favourites introduced by using the ball.

Challenge

Basically the ball is ‘wobbly’ so you will draw on extra muscles and develop new skills.  Several more outer and deep muscles are recruited when training on the ball, some of which you may never have felt before.  Simply sitting on it will have you working harder to perform upper body strengthening.

Improved technique

It is often alarming to see people using incorrect technique while training.  Apart from the fact they are cheating on their workout, sloppy technique means they are also placing their bodies at risk.  By working on the ball you will automatically, often subconsciously, correct and improve your exercise quality.  If you lose good posture, the ball will roll or wobble, prompting you to correct your form.
